Gander tells the stories of the people and moments that made a place, and uses AI to put them in everyone's pocket.
Walk down almost any street and you're surrounded by stories: the chapel that refused to move for a government, the footballer whose statue still draws a crowd, the lighthouse keeper's daughter who rowed out into a storm. Most of the time, nobody's there to tell you.
Guided tours, guidebooks and museums do a brilliant job, but they can be expensive, fixed to a timetable, in one language, or simply not there in the places you happen to be. We think the history of a place should belong to everyone who walks through it.
So we use AI for good. It helps us dig through the records, piece together the people and events behind a place, and turn them into a story you can listen to on your own, at your own pace, in your own language. Then you can ask it anything you're curious about along the way.
Gander was founded in 2026 in the North East of England. We're a very small company with big ambitions: to make the stories behind every place easy for anyone to find, wherever they are in the world.
Wherever you're from, you should feel welcome on a Gander tour. Every tour is made to travel: the app, the stories and the voice can all speak your language, with English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish available today.
Can't see your language? Ask for it in the app, or email us at hello@gander-tours.com. We'll do our very best to add it, wherever the technology allows.
History is made by people. We tell their stories, not just dates and architecture, so a place comes alive as you stand in it.
AI helps us research and write, but it never gets the last word. We check our stories against sources, say when the record is unclear, and never pass off legend as fact.
Tours are free to start, there's no subscription, and they're available in many languages. Curiosity shouldn't depend on your budget or where you're from.
When your tour ends, we point you to independent cafés, shops and attractions nearby, so curious visitors help the places they explore.
We tell difficult histories honestly and with care, and treat the places and people in our stories with respect.
We started on the banks of the Tyne, with the stories on our own doorstep, and we're taking that same curiosity to cities around the world.
